Our Philosophy

You are looking for an elementary school that understands that:

- Not one child is like another

- That each pupil progresses at a different pace for different subjects

- That every child has different learning needs

- That children learn better in small groups

- That parents should have the opportunity to participate in the education of their children

- That children can be naturally bilingual

- That learning without understanding is not acceptable

- Children need to be valorized so that they gain in confidence and take Plaisir in learning

- The need for teachers to be pedagogues

- That following a different learning method does not out rule the national curriculum

- Schools need to develop children’s natural curiosity

- That to succeed, regular appointments with the class teacher and careful monitoring of pupils progress is necessary

Do not hesitate to contact LITTLE PHILO SCHOOL to arrange an appointment at your convenience, or send us an email specifying your needs.

It is proven that children learn best when they are in a favorable environment. Their minds are then open to learning new skills.

Individualized courses:

The unique structure of Little Philo School gives children the rare opportunity to work at their own pace, under the watchful eyes of teachers and parents present. Each pupil provides work to the best of his abilities. Due to the intimate size of Philo Little School, our dedicated staff adapts the work to the unique needs of each child. A maximum of 10 children in any class enables for individualized learning. The pupil’s confidence is built from successes and failures that he is encouraged to discover. Children learn not to compare themselves to others, that each is better in one area than another and that the important is that they improve their own skills.

The child must discover the pleasure of learning:

Little Philo School seeks to encourage and congratulate the pupils at every opportunity helping to develop their full potential. We encourage children to explore their environment and, whenever possible, we study outside. As the child works without pressure or coercion, he / she is free from stress and other negatives that may be the cause of unconscious disorders in later life. We show children how and where to find information, so that the pleasure of learning and autonomy remains.

The child must nourish his interests:

When children show an interest in a particular subject, Little Philo School nourishes that interest. We send the child out looking for more questions that need answering using the information found not only in books, encyclopedias, dictionaries and the Internet, but also through "visits". Children learn with truth "visual learning".

Responsibility:

A high level of discipline is achieved through natural concentration on an activity. Empowering children includes a multidimensional school program. Diversities like: art, music, languages, theatre, computers, the mystery of the universe and local history help to keep them interested.

Little Philo School encourages compassion. Children realize their ability to impact their environment. These activities bring pupils to understand that their actions are important, for example:

- Write letters to protest against the mistreatment of marine mammals

- Organize a fundraiser to preserve the rainforest, and the collection of recyclable materials.

By living as a free member in a real community, the child uses fundamental social qualities which form the basis of good citizenship.

Philosophical method:

Group lessons include philosophy. The "Why" stimulates and compels thinking. Children 6 to 11 years are naturally curious apprentices. Thus, group discussions are incorporated in all subjects in order to develop their natural appetite rather than a "classic" program that only serves to implant knowledge.

The "Why" is central to this age. They become independent thinkers, independent and free. The "What if?" promotes openness of the mind. Play and imagination allows every child to flourish. Our method helps develop the whole of the child's personality: Each time your child asks a question, the instruction follows.

Parental involvement:

At Little Philo School, parents are actively involved in school life. They have an important role to play in the education of their children. Parents who wish may assist the teacher, taking care of a child on a 1-1, always under the supervision of the class teacher. Their action could be to listen to a child read aloud, recite a poem or explain an exercise that he has not understood. Parents play an important role also in the field of security. If the parent is present, even occasionally, he shows his contentment towards the school meaning that his child is safe.

The arts-theater, dance, music and visual arts play a crucial role in the development of the whole child. The arts are an outlet for individual expression, bringing joy and enriching the classroom. These activities can be managed by parents in after school activities.

Outings:

Little School Philo believes it is essential that pupils have regular opportunities for learning beyond the classroom walls. Each class has at least 1 outing per month, including art galleries, museums, expeditions, castles, archaeological excavations, forest walks, etc ...

Little Philo School believes in good conditions, there is no limit that a child cannot reach. We strive to earn a long-standing reputation as one of the major and best schools of France.
