THE SCHOOL REGISTRATION FORM :

 

It should include:

- A photocopy of the "livret de famille" or an excerpt form of child birth.- A photocopy of the French national identity card or passport of the legal representative.

- 2 photos of the child's identity.- 6 blank envelopes 16x23 size postage at the current rate.

- A child's school certificate of insurance (liability and personal accident guarantee).

 

Only for children already in primary school or Kindergarten section:

- The deletion certificate from the previous school, with a discharge if it is private.

- The school record.

- The medical certificate and extracts from the health record as provided by the Ministerial note of 01/09/1981) stating that the child has been compulsory vaccinations for his age and he completes a medical indication-cons (the medical certificate of cons-indication must be provided by the family to the school principal and renewed annually).

 

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION:
The candidates are treated fairly and with respect. Little Philo School is attached effect to the principle of equality in education and employment. The acceptance of the student may consider the educational and linguistic backgrounds so we can fulfill our educational mission to provide English and French in quality education to the international community.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Little Philo School accepts applications to enroll to the limits of availability. However, the following criteria are carefully examined:
- Student Records: Parents are asked to provide previous school records of their (s) child (ren). We do not accept students whose educational needs are beyond our ability to teach although we accept that every student has his place within the school. Parents should thus imperatively understand that candidates with learning difficulties or special needs should come early for evaluation.

- Admission Decisions: are made based on staff  learning recommendation. If we determine that we are unable to meet the particular needs of a candidate, we will let parents know as soon as possible so that they may find another educational alternative for their children.
- A period of adjustment is required and necessary for every new student. Both parties must agree for the child to develop in good conditions. An assessment will be made after one month and again after 3 months and parents will be informed of the progress of each student each semester. Parents who are 'voluntary educators" see for themselves the behavior of their children and their integration in the classroom.

 

The waiting list system is explained to families and if they wish to enroll their children, they are invited to:
a) complete a registration form for each child;
b) complete the contract in French or English and signe the school rules;
c) pay a month's tuition to guarantee a place in our institution. School rules can then be paid in three ways. yearly, quarterly or monthly in advance. (See Payments);
d) pay the costs of supplies of € 200;
e) sign a release for the outings;
f) signe an annual authorization "image" rights required. Photos are available for parents who wish. The authorization thus given is not a purchasing commitment. 
g) upon proposal of the school board, a care and emergencies sheet is attached to internal regulations. It must be signed by each parent.
h) the list of adults who have the right to recover the child if the parents are not available;
i) authorization to bring your child to the hospital should be completed by parents before the start of each school year.

 

Formalities:
The registration formalities should be completed by parents. The joint exercise of parental authority has become the principle scheme for divorced parents, unmarried or separated, they assume therefore equal responsibility for their child. In cases where a parent is the sole holder of parental authority, it is up to him to prove to the principal of the school this exceptional situation. Registration is recorded by the school principal on the intake of schools Register.

 

SCHOOL CHANGE:
In case of change of school, a certificate of radiation emanating from the school of origin must be presented to us. We do the re-registration certificate.
In addition, the school record is given to the parents unless they leave it up to the school principal to send us this document directly.
For students arriving from abroad, only the report cards are required.
There is also an EAL provision in the school, but generally we do not accept students after 9 years without a good level of French or English.

 

ACCEPTANCE OF PUPILS:

- Once the number of places are complete, the school will contact the families to which we are able to offer a place by telephone and then send a full packet of information that includes:

- A letter of acceptance.

- A medical examination request form to be completed by parents and certified by a doctor.

- Details of lunch at school:

- It is at this stage that the fees become non-refundable.

- Study Guides and a list of all subjects, is available on our website.

- When classes are full and we are not able to immediately secure a place in our school. You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to add your child's name on our waiting list. This is free of charge, as the child has no place assured among us.

- Only the confirmation by us of the acceptance of the future pupil and depending on the return of documents signed and the fees paid, guarantee the place your child in school, and this each year.

- The entry age is from 6 years but precocious children will be considered for a class (From 5 years).

- Education is compulsory for all children from 6 years. The home-schooled children must declare to the Mayor of their district that you are responsible for the child’s education. Our policy accepts that these children can access courses without having to follow all the proposed curriculum. However, they must follow on a regular basis the chosen subject during the year.

 

OUTINGS:

A child not wishing to participate in an outing can stay in school if an adult is available to stay with him, otherwise, the parent must come and collect the child before the departure time.

 

SCHOOLING OF DISABLED PUPILS:

For pupils with a school integration device. We can accept some disabilities, but regret to not be able to accept pupils who require heavy equipment.

 

PUPILS WITH HEALTH DISORDERS:

Children with allergies, food intolerance or health problems evolving over a long period and compatible with regular schooling (excluding acute diseases), may be accepted as part of an individualized registration acceptance.

 

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AND OBLIGATIONS:

School outings are organized regularly and all legal representative must sign a written discharge. The children are always accompanied by a responsible adult.

 

STUDENTS OF SCHOOL CLASSROOM PRIMARY:

Regular attendance of elementary school is mandatory under the laws and regulations in force. The legal representatives of the pupils are responsible for failure to give compulsory education to their children. Except for home-schooled children who must notify the local council that their child receives home education.

 

The legal representatives must, without delay, give to the school secretary, teacher or principal, legitimate reasons for absence (illness, absence of transport ...). In case of a contagious illness, a medical certificate must be produced.

Leave of absence may be granted by the Director, upon written request of the parents, to meet exceptional obligations, doctor’s appointments etc...

 

Any children’s absences for long periods requested by parents, are subject to the following reasons:

a) Home schooling

b) Correspondence courses

c) Hospital

d) Schooling abroad

If these measures are not met, the child will have to be re-enrollment within eight days. Otherwise, a child is considered unschooled. In this case a report to the school inspectorate will be made.

 

GENERAL PROVISIONS:

Pupil’s school lives and teacher’s actions are organized to achieve the objectives set in Article D 321-1 of the Code of Education.

 

SECULARISM:

The law of 15 March 2004 adopted under the constitutional principle of “secularism” which is a cornerstone. This principle being the result of a long history, based on respect for freedom of conscience and on the affirmation of shared values ​​that underpin the unity beyond particular affiliations.

 

Article L 141-5-1 of the Code of Education, the wearing of religious signs or dress by which pupils overtly manifest an affiliation is prohibited.

 

Elementary schools in the department of the Alpes Maritimes, must include one hour of religious education per week. Little Philo School speaks openly about religion. We never imply that this religion or that religion is better. We keep an open mind and remain neutral in order to respect the equality and the identification of all.

 

Parents who wish can exempt their children from religious instruction. (Decree No. 74-763 of 3 September 1974) by writing to the Director a written request at the beginning of the school year.

RIGHTS - OBLIGATIONS - SANCTIONS:

 

Respect is a key word in our school. We teach our children manners as well as education. A Child’s unacceptable attitude may be disciplinary. The sanction is always in connection with the behavior. The child will be explained why it is intolerable to react that way when one is part of a community.

 

LANGUAGE:

Inappropriate language will reprimanded. The pupil will learn; he will first be obliged to apologize, and then execute general work within the school. If he continues, he may be excluded from the group or sent home the time for him to understand that he is not allowed to insult his entourage. Parents will always be informed of the problems between their children and others. The pupil can in serious cases be permanently excluded from the school.

 

PUPIL’S RIGHTS AND DUTIES:

Our pupils, have rights and duties. This exercise is about learning citizenship.

The school provides incentives for good work. Our goal is that children become autonomous and acquire skills with pleasure. Our future success and reputation is built on the assurance that we will provide the best education possible to your children.

The school plays a key role in the socialization of children: everything is an incentive to strive to do one’s best.

 

VIOLENCE:

The teacher forbids himself any behavior, gesture or word that could be translated as indifference or contempt for a pupil or his family, or that could harm a child’s sensitivity.

 

Similarly, pupils and their families are prohibited to use any behavior, gesture or word that would undermine or hurt another pupil, person or the teacher. They must respect their classmates and the families of those thereof. Violence will never be tolerated in any way or form. A child who feels entitled to set a difference using violence will be immediately reprimanded. He will be made to apologize and we will then explain to the child in question that he must sit quietly with the pupil with whom he / she has a problem to discuss and find a solution to their problem. A difficult child could however be isolated, the time necessary to restore normal behavior, compatible with the life of the group. He could also be sent home, after a meeting with parents.

 

However, if a child's behavior seriously disturbs the harmony of the class and if he refuses to calm himself and this on a regular basis, the child’s case will be bought before the educational team and it will be decided if the pupil can remain in our school or not. As a private school, we are the only judge as to whether the child can be kept in our school or not.

Under Article D 321-6 of the Code of Education, A doctor charged with school medical conditions and / or a member of the Social Help could attend.

 

SCHOOL YEAR:

The year begins early September and continues until June. The month of July may be a month where pupils in need can take extra courses and catch up. Or the teacher may organize work to be done during the holiday. If parents wish, holiday dates may be decided by the parents of a class group. We don’t have to follow the holidays decided by the Rector.

 

TIMETABLE AND MANAGEMENT OF SCHOOL TIME:

The school opens for the English at 8am for those who wish.

Classes are held from 9am to 12am and from 1pm to 4pm or 6pm for those who attend after-school activities. Remedial courses can also be organized during these hours for those in need.

Timetables for personalized support in English are set as follows:

From 8am to 9am every morning, the children will speak English. They also speak during the lunch break.

English courses are held every Wednesday in "Club" 2 choices of schedules are available: between 9am and 12am and between 1pm and 4pm. External children can also attend but they do not enjoy the same discounted rate.

A monthly calendar is available for organized trips planned so that the parents are aware of ongoing activities.

 

IMAGE RIGHTS:

We take regular photographs and films of the pupils in class and on outings. Pupils are encouraged to use these images for the school newspaper and website. Parents are invited to sign the agreement accepting that we use their child’s image. This right of image will apply to all photos taken during the school year. Photos are available for parents who wish.

 

ORGANIZATION OF CARE AND EMERGENCY:

The following care and emergencies organization was agreed by the school council, it is annexed to the school rules and must be signed by each parent.

 

LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDREN: HEALTH, SAFETY AND PURPOSE:

It is strictly forbidden to smoke on the school premises (Decree No. 2006-1386 of 15 November 2006 published in the OG of 16 November 2006).

 

SECURITY:

Parents are required to complete the "emergency card" at the beginning of each school year. This card should include:

Child following a regular or occasional care or rehabilitation sessions in an institution:

Upon written request, the elementary students may leave the school accompanied by their parents or by a person accredited by them, to get to the places where they receive follow-up care. These permissions must have a formal reason and should be exceptional unless supported by the P.A.P. or P.P.S.

The responsibility of the director and teacher stops as soon as the pupil has left school.

 

PUPIL’S INSURANCE:

The school enrolls in insurance for each, pupil, teacher, parent, volunteer or intern, but a private liability insurance is required for participation in extracurricular activities.

 

MONITORING AND DELIVERY OF PUPILS TO FAMILIES:

The school opens 10 minutes before class. The children will be allowed to enter at this time.

Pupils must leave the confines of the school premises at the end of the school day unless they are kept at the request of the family in child care, catering or transportation. No child will leave the premises unaccompanied or without a discharge letter if the child goes home alone.

 

CONSULTATION BETWEEN FAMILIES AND TEACHERS:

The director meets the parents of a class or school each school year, each semester and whenever he deems necessary or with the teachers concerned. Parents may request an interview with the teacher but must not expect the teacher to be available to discuss children’s progress in front of the school door.

 

PAYMENT:

Tuition is due one month in advance, even if you delay the date of entry of your child.

Monthly or quarterly payments should be, either by direct debit or by check, this will be requested upon registration. If you decide to leave the school, they will be reimbursed taking into consideration the three months’ notice that you must perform.

 

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND PROPERTY:

Children are encouraged to manage their own clothes and shoes, which is why it is important that they label them with their name. Bags and lunch boxes should clearly indicate their name.

 

LUNCH AND SNACK TIME:

Lunches can be organizations between parents of a same class. Each class can choose:

a) Pack lunch, hot or cold (each parent provides daily food for their children). Fruit, milk and biscuits for the morning and snack in the afternoon, will also be provided by parents.

b) It is also possible for those who wish to bring in a caterer. This is paid by the parents.

c) It may be possible when all the parents of a class agree, that the children eat in a restaurant near the school. Prices can be negotiated.

d) For parents of a class who wish and only if no children have allergies, 1 parent can make the dinner for the class each day taking into consideration what they eat or not. These lunches must be varied in meat and vegetables. So 1 parent would make the lunch 1 day every 8 to 10 days. 

 

We encourage children to help at meal times. They lay and clean the tables and wash their own dishes.

Birthdays: they are celebrated at school with fruits and cakes provided by the parents. Beware of allergies of some pupils.

If your child has allergies, please ensure that they are specified on the registration form. Avoid giving sweets to children before he or she enters school. If sweets are added to the diet of your child's early morning it may interfere with the concentration of the child or the willingness to learn.

 

If a pupil is allergic to nuts, no children in the class will be allowed to bring anything containing nuts to school. If you want to make a cake for the birthday of your child please inform the principal in advance, so that the celebration of the birthday can be fun for everyone.

Parents should not send sick children to school and must inform the teacher as soon as possible, especially if the disease is contagious and presents a risk to pregnant women. Children with contagious diseases should not come to school until they are authorized by a physician. Children with a strong cough or cold will be better at home. If your child cuts him / herself, a hypoallergenic adhesive plaster will be applied if necessary.

 

SCHOOL VISITORS:

Visitors are allowed by appointment. This guarantees that the work cycle of the children is not disturbed by the arrival of foreigners and also that we can maintain a high standard of teacher-pupil ratio.
